Life of a Retail worker.
Everyone thinks that us people that work in retail have an easy job. WRONG; if anything we have a harder job. So you work in a office you deal with your work colleagues and your boss; you work 9-5 Monday to Friday. We work any day of the week including weekends, why do we work weekends because they are the days that you come in and want serving. So we deal with our colleagues, our boss, you the customer and those who want to ring us.
Things you do that piss us off:
-Say shit like, “oh it didn't scan, it must be free”.Every time you say this a small part of our soul dies and you are responsible for this.
-Telling us how to do our job. Oh for fuck sake if it was as simple as the way you are telling me how to do it then i would of done it wouldn’t i. There is a reason why I'm not doing it that way, but clearly your so narrow minded that you can’t see that.
-When you demand to speak to our manager. This is a personal highlight of mine. Just because you want to speak to the manager doesn’t mean he wants to speak to you and when your screaming and shouting; or even better using abusive language he isn’t going to talk to you and to be completely frank with you no-one will want to talk to you.
Things you do that we like:
-This is simple but just smile at us everyone deserves to see and loves a smile.
-Be pleasant in when you talk to us, if we ask you a question it is either to gain clarity on a previous enquiry or to gain information so we can help you. Just answer the question.
-If something isn’t our fault but from an experience you have had with someone in the company then, speak to us with respect, then we will probably go that little further to help you.
For those that have never worked in retail this is for you to read, we work in an industry that never sleeps and to be honest we have more stressful days than none stressful days so remember that we you come into our place of work.
Please those who work in retail share this so others can see and read about what a retail worker feels like in there job at times.
