In 1990 Dayjur, won the: Temple Stakes King's Stand Stakes Nunthorpe Stakes Ladbroke Sprint Cup Prix de l'Abbaye but narrowly failed in the Breeders' Cup Sprint at Belmont Park (pictured) after jumping two shadows close to home

Shadow Jumper

3-year-old European colt Dayjur (blue and white silks) took a fateful leap in the final strides of the 1990 Breeder's Cup Sprint, a move which allowed champion sprinting filly Safely Kept (far right) to win by a neck. Popular theory provides that the colt mistook a shadow on the group for an obstacle and attempted to jump over it
