I hope you've invested more money on your profession than I have on this project so I can hire you for no wage at all. Also invest some money on your appearance, don't want to look like we aren't paying you.
I hope your schooling for what I need wasn't expensive, Nor your time or effort you've put in as-well.

Compiled data on Day Rates and Pay Trends
Eposure, a hub for UK based commercial photographers, ran a survey of photographer in the UK and the US. Below are some of the graphed results - it's not immediately clear on their website which currencies they're graphing. I would assume dollars for the US, pounds for the UK.
Again, these rates are specifically quoted by commercial photographers.
A few pointers from Eposure, that apply to all types of photographers:
We believe the way to make this day rate information inform you and your business is to look at the following:
1. Understand where your day rates put you in the market overall
2. Be clear about your business proposition is and why your services merit the prices that you are charging
3. Make sure that your potential clients can see from your website and your quotes exactly why you are worth what you are charging.
Be sure to check out their blog for more details.

"A Vanity Exercise"
Anon comment:
Oh how depressing. My first shoot was for Rolling Stone Magazine back in 1995 and I remember getting $450 a day plus expenses. Most magazines paid 500-600 and still pay the same. 18 years later! Rodale's Organic Style paid 1,000 a day but the magazine folded. Its amazing that so many magazines are in existence but most are squeezed and over in England budgets have halved. The difference is, now I have two kids to look after. You might say editorial shooting is turning into a vanity exercise.
