Our friends, the photographer Matthew Septimus and poet Esther Cohen, have created a new postcard series for the ten Days of Awe: County Route 20 for Prayers between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. This year's project, Esther says, focuses "on the road of life, the road from Earth to the moon, beauty that persists in spite of floods and governments, the roads we all take. More than what happens." To all our brothers and sisters, l'shanah tovah. Happy new year and gratitude to all engage in this world.

Day 39: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” The very context of this verse is all about not worrying on the things, and also not getting anxious on everything. We’re all experiencing the same problems like our daily/weekly/monthly budget is about to ran out, we’re going to miss payments, or any “what if’s” that are we thinking right now. Never worry. I repeat, never worry, about everything. For if we are the seekers of His kingdom and His righteousness, no doubt that the Father will give what our needs as the birds outside. If we are seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, we are also seeking His will. We cannot act according to our own, but ask Him for His will. If we also seeking His kingdom and His righteousness, we can experience Him in our lives. Trust Him and be faithful, and actively seek Him even more. Day 38: For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. I’m going to share what happen earlier this morning during our work times, as my testimony: After dealing with the first (or maybe second) delivery truck and driver, bringing items to the specific departments, and talking with my co-worker for which is he’s off today, I went back to the place where the forklift was parked. I almost going behind of it, when I heard a strange sound. Upon looking to the source, the gas is leaking from the valve. Instead of giving in to the fear, I pray to the Lord that He will save us from this possible danger and giving us a wisdom and courage to deal with this. Then, I approached my co-workers to help me further for this situation, and finally, one of my eldest co-worker taught me to turn off the valve and disconnect it, and redo. I’m so afraid to disconnect the valve, so I have him do it, when the problem is mitigated, he asked me to start the engine, and praise to the Lord, forklift is fine and working well again. Spirit of fear is real, not just a “feeling” like what we usually believed. It can control us, hinders our relationship to the Lord and to the people, hinders the blessing, hinders the worship, and lastly is to advance the work of the devil, for this is their weapon against us. If we choose to dwell in it, can cause us a lot of troubles in our lives and can kill us not only physically, but spiritually. This time, let the Lord free us from this spirit, and let the Spirit of the Lord control us not only to overcome it all but to do His will and praise Him even more. Let God guard our hearts and minds, and the way we speak, so that we can experience Him even more and His power, that He can drive out the spirit of fear away from us. Day 37: Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds… (To all my brothers and sisters in the Lord not only in our church, but to the believers as well) The very context of these verses locks in to the believers. However, due to the present conditions, most of us are now “locked up” into our houses or too busy in our jobs. We didn’t know that “lockdown” mentality gets on us spiritually, and most of the things consume much of our time controlling us like an addiction to vices. Now, we said that “We love the Lord…” then we failed miserably to do His will most and for all until it becomes a habit, and we have a temerity to ask for a blessing? No, the Lord doesn’t understand that, for we failed to do His will and His commandments. We really forgot that we are the Church and not the building. Where’s our warmth to one another? Where’s our compassion? And most for all, are we still responsible for one another? Do not forsake on meeting up one another, even if it is “live” or “video call”. I, myself, is guilty for that, no exceptions for all of us. Whatever the reasons, whatever the circumstances, and whatever comes, we need to meet them up and to take care one another even we are seems to be far away from them. Lastly, we need to be restored by our brokenness of our heart and spirit, and repent because of our sins. And we need to be the light of the world, in the midst of this darkness. To all my brothers and sister in the Lord in our church, I miss and love you all. Remember the times that we are together in His house worshiping Him. For those who are not in the Lord yet, this is the time to receive Him and come to Him, for He is gracious and merciful for those who come to Him humbly and by asking forgiveness. Day 36: After you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and making you strong, firm and steadfast This is a good news for all of us, but believe in this: aside from the things that we see is temporary, so are the problems and situations that we’re going through right now are also temporary and just taking a little while (it may be an another problem after our problem next day in a cycle, until it all stops one day when He returns). I might not know what are the situations that we are in, right now, and makes us troubled and worried. One thing that I can be sure, is to trust the Lord, surrender everything unto Him and have a heart and spirit that is broken when we’re going to come to Him with asking repentance, for the Lord deserve a person with a broken heart and spirit, He will be pleased. Come to Him while He is near, and approach a throne of God with humility and recognizing His power, for this is a way for us to cast our worries, troubles, and anything to Him. And He will be with us even in the midst of the “greatest” problem that we’re experiencing, trust Him. No worries, as long as we’re depending on Him, everything seems to be provided by the Lord and He’s there no matter what. He will restore us if we give ourselves with a broken heart and spirit. (1 Peter 5:10) Yom Kippur, or Feast of Atonement, according to the Jewish tradition, is an “closed book” contrary to Rosh Hashanah for which is an “open book”. For this is the holiest feast, that signifies our brokenness, judgement, and restoration after the season of prayer and fasting with repentance, or Teshuvah. Day 35: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” In this series, I’ve never once stopped mentioning about “problems”, “situations”, and more negativities, for these are the things that bombarding us every single moment of our lives. However, let’s gaze in His beauty and His power when we’re experiencing those. Yet we need to know that in order to be His, we need to fully surrender ourselves to Him and lay everything on Him, that includes our sins and all of ourselves. If we also receive Him, this is a moment that we can experience Him even in the midst of the trouble or even “walking through fire”, we’re not getting scorched. He urge us to be still and know that He’s God, no matter what are the troubles we’re experiencing Him, learn to be dependent on Him and give our battles to the Lord, for it belongs to Him and He can fight for us if we’re trully trusting Him. Nothing else to say further, but these all I can say, for we can come to Him and believe that He’s with us. Be strong and courageous, for He is God.
