Oh. Hm. Now I'm extra curious about Robby's thoughts on teshuvah and what he expects from Langdon in terms of apology and what he does or doesn't feel he owes Langdon if Langdon hits all the requirements.

The Rambam, in Hilchot Teshuva, refers to sinning as, "sinning against our souls." It makes sense. You can't actually harm God. The only one you're really harming with sin in yourself. But then, by the principle that for sins that harm a human being, you need to apologize to them before God can forgive you, it follows that before Yom Kippur we need to apologize to ourselves as well.

Sigh.

The people (strangers by and large) I *really* need to apologize to probably won't see this because I've either blocked them or the post won't reach them because I have like 4 followers and zero reach. But!

I have been short-tempered and judgmental, snippy at people instead of being patient or disengaging before things got nasty. Before I in particular got nasty. For no good reason.

I've been having hormone swings because of perimenopause and also the world is on fire and I'm scared, but since this is tikkun middot, those cannot function as excuses. I will try in the next year to say positive things online or not say anything. I will try not to feed the trolls and to have more empathy with people who hold harmful beliefs. I don't have to engage with them or try to change their mind, but I also don't know where they are on their journey. If I say I believe people can change and become better, then it's on me to demonstrate that in my actions, as well.
