Dazai dying for Atsushi's character development?
(55 minutes light novel & something about Sigma spoiler mentioned)
I've seen a few people talk about how Atsushi's character would change in a better way if Dazai died. Or "Dazai dying for Atsushi's character development".
It is also often talked about how Asagiri probably waits to bring back Chuuya only so that Chuuya and Dazai could die together. I think it's probably a popular theory because skk shippers want angst with them together in canon and "if they have to die then at least they have to die together!!" .. But this discussion is for an other day (and I'm already tired of how everything is around skk in this goddamn fandom).
I want to talk about Dazatsu.
Honestly I think if Dazai dies Atsushi would not benefit from it in any way. Because if you think about it he would lose probably the most important person is his life (!), the one who was kind with him for the first time ever, the one he could always rely on etc. Atsushi has already gone through a lot of pain in his life but I think losing Dazai too would make him numb.
I've also seen theories about comparing Dazai's and Odasaku's situation with Dazai's and Atsushi's. But there is one important thing which is often forgotten; Odasaku dying pushed Dazai to help people - but what would Atsushi do differently if Dazai died? Atsushi already saved Kyouka, Lucy in a way and also tried with Sigma and not because of anyone else but himself, that's how Atsushi is. He is always there to help so how would it exactly benefit his character development?
Especially when in 55 minutes when Dazai dies in front of Atsushi, he can't accept it. He tries so hard to bring Dazai back (and he does). Dazai is too important for Atsushi.
In conclusion;
I think killing Dazai for Atsushi's "character development" would only destroy Atsushi emotionally.
“atsushi i got the snacks i’m such a good boyfriend right? right?”
two clingy ass boyfriends who cant stay away from each other even two Minutes. Bastards
"Kill me"
au where atsushi is a vampire hunter that doesn't wanna be a vampire hunter and dazai is a vampire who doesn't wanna be a vampire, nor alive.
pov: youre alice who fell into wonderland and you wake up to a couple bickering cause one of them (dazai) joked about selling you to the queen for money
awooga?
dazai hates work so that’s why he stares at cute little atsushi being a diligent worker!
dazai didn’t mean to read atsushi ’s love letters diary it just happened
