Pikmin Party Quilt - Desert Bus for Hope 2025
I returned to my home of FPP (foundational paper piecing) quilting this year for my Desert Bus contribution. I considered doing another pixel style, but I couldn't work out a satisfactory composition or detail level for the little pikmin. I wanted something that felt playful, cute and graphic to really catch the bold colours and iconography of pikmin.
This quilt is about 81" square, minus the rounded corners, and was about 700 different pieces, I always ay about because sometimes I do editing of the pieces on the fly when I get them printed out. I had a lot of fun getting the colours just right and I worked really hard on the pattern this year to make sure I could sew every seam by machine and not have to do any Y-seams or hand sewing.
I'm also in love with the quilting pattern, I want it on a quilt I get to keep, it looks so good. Anyways, love these little guys and I hope they are going to be happy in their new home
Also, since this year's run hasn't started, all ye viewers have a chance to win it as it will be a giveaway this year on Sunday, November 13th sometime between 6pm-11:59pm (PST). Here is a direct link if you wanna see it or check out any of the other very cool prizes available.
