As cliche as it might sound he thinks you’re way too good for him. In my mind's eye I can see him looking at you so softly, wondering how he got so lucky.
He’d do anything to keep you safe. He has already lost so much, he really wouldn't be able to cope with losing you too. He’s undoubtedly super protective, but has come to appreciate the fact that you can protect yourself. Doesn’t stop him from fussing.
