Jon turned off the bathroom light, heading back into the bedroom with a towel around his waist and a smaller towel half wrapped around his neck as he ruffled it through his hair. He had helped Damian with an easy cleanup, after which Damian had chosen to fall asleep. Jon walked over to the bed sitting on the corner, watching Damian sleep.
This wasn't the first time they slept together, but it was the first time like this. Jon and Jay were the switches in the relationship; Colin bottomed, and Damian always chose to top. But tonight was different; tonight, he turned his complete trust over to Jon. Now, he lay in bed sleeping on his stomach, fully asleep, not noticing or stirring when Jon came into the room.
Jon's powers first became noticeable at 14 with his invincibility with the other more overwhelming powers coming in over the following years. He spent so much time learning restraint, from superhearing to super strength. He had met Damian at 14 1/2 when he was 12. -Living with the bats for 2 years.- So much time was put into mastering his powers so he would never accidentally hurt someone and Damian was there for so much of that training.
Jay was the first person Jon had slept with. It took time for him to become comfortable switching their positions. With Jay's intangibility, there was trust if anything went wrong. It had been years since then, and Jon knew his strength in fighting or when spending intimate time with his partners. He knew what he was doing tonight, but there was still an element of fear, he would never want to hurt any of them, especially Damian.
It all went well, Damian was happy. For how much he hid his feelings, Damian and Jon are close enough that he will completely open in these private moments. Damian was happy, and Jon was as well.
Jon was born with his powers, leading him to be as fast as a moving bullet and invulnerable to their effects. Jay was tortured. He wasn't born with his ability to turn intangible, but it gave him protection against threats; the same with Colin's alternate form which he gave the code name Abuse. It was created through an unsavory situation, but he could protect himself, and so could Damian. Trained by the League of Assassinations for 6 years of his early life before coming to the US to train with his father and siblings. Damian could defend himself, no doubt about it, but he, on some level, is the most human.
For as long as Jon had known him, he always slept on his back. He never asked why, but if he had to take a guess he knew why. Sleeping on your stomach leaves you vulnerable, and your side, though defendable, it’s not as safe as staying on your back. Jon couldn't remember where he had heard the tibet, but the idea that you could defend yourself the easiest laying on your back stuck with him. He liked being able to so easily see Damian's breaths, with every rise and fall of his body, he could so easily focus on just his breathing and heartbeat but he liked watching him. There was something about him lying on his stomach now, not waiting for Jon to return to full fall asleep that made Jon feel loved in a way that no other actions could ever communicate.
Damian was always aware of his surroundings on some level; Jon noticed it in his breathing as he slept how he wasn't fully at peace. It was over a year of living together that he heard that change in his breaths, when he fully let himself relax in his sleep. Letting his guard down completely.
Damian lay there, on his stomach, fully embraced by sleep, falling so easily into rest after giving himself over to Jon. In a way, he admitted he would never do it with Jay. And that was ok; they were all safe and happy, and that's what mattered to Jon. He took his two damp towels, laying them over the side of the plastic hamper, grabbing a pair of pajama pants he slipped on before climbing in bed and wrapping himself around Damian. His truly asleep partner didn’t react, not making a sound, no difference in heart rate or breathing; Jon was so happy to have him.
