Can you tell me more about your Jonathan Crane and the design process for his whole look? Please and thank you, he's so cool!
OMG HI HELLO MY FIRST ASK Thank you so much!! Before I get a tad into his lore, Ill give a quick TL;DR of my rewrite, DC Scion!
DC Scion is a DCU rewrite inside the TTRPG Scion, It is meant to be played like a campaign but, I have my own growing lore alongside it before I actually run anything :> Scion is based off of the concept that supes are beings called Scions that were given their powers from gods and or divinity, following the concept that all mythos are real alongside their pantheons. DC Scion is a mix of that! A combination of noir style superheros from the DCU plus religion and mythos as a root to a lot of the lore.. Its a blend of two personal interests of mine <3
Jonathan Crane in DC Scion follows the older storyline of Scarecrow,, where he starts as a young farmer boy living with his abusive catholic grandmother in Georgia. He is mixed, but very indigenous showing coming from his father (His tribes specifically being Muscogee and Lakota),, which this affects his upbringing quite a lot as a native kid in early 19th century southern USA. His life follows mostly the same, but its his career thats a bit different! As he starts creating a impact on the city and land around him as the Scarecrow, it eventually ends up working with two spirits.. Iktomi, the trickster spirit of Spiders,, and then Tawiscara, The twisted twin and the Bad of Mankind. They end up helping push his career if you feel me, get him a better reach in a way. Eventually, we follow the storyline of the Scarebeast, which is the start of it slowly becoming something called an Amalgamation Scion (Amalgamations could be renamed,, the ranking of Scions are still a WIP!!) He is supposed to represent indigenous folklore and folkstories!! A man who has twisted his heart and soul by working to closely to the dark spirits around him.
For his design! Its not.. its not as interesting... Istg a lot of it was just me going "ooohhhh.. I like this character, into the inspo pile" or "holy freak that scarecrow has long hair lets do that" until I got where I am now. Its like supposed to be a mix of a southern preacher and a gothic cowboy?? Yeah, I am a total design genius.. heh....
An OLD unfinished reference sheet for Scarecrow! I will be remaking it hopefully in the soon future
