You’ve been best friends for the longest time now
You basically do everything together, especially at school
There’s a group project? Obviously you’re gonna pair up together
Lunch time? You sit together and share or exchange your food
Recess? You hang out together and don’t really need anyone else
Freddy’s foster parents know you since he invited you over a few times
Even though Freddy feels a bit embarrassed, you were happy
Because they really liked you and knew you cared about their son
In fact, ‘care’ doesn’t quite cover it because you have a crush on him
A huge crush that you often hide because you’re such good friends
You’re afraid that, if you confess to him, you’ll stop being friends
He hasn’t really shown signs of reciprocating
And although it hurts, you prefer to remain friends
That way you won’t have to lose him taking the risk of telling him
So you keep doing friends stuff, even if it’s best friend stuff
Looking after him when he’s in crutches in any way you can
Holding his bag or anything he needs you to
Helping him sit down or whatever he struggles with
He always jokes about your attentions, finding them fondly
“I never expected to have my own personal nurse, but I like it”
“Shut up, Freddy, or I leave your ass alone in here”
The usual playful banter you two always have, basically
Sometimes he says such weird things that it gives you laugh attacks
You honestly don’t know if he does it on purporse or not
But really, he does, if you’re happy Freddy is happy too
If something he thinks of might make you laugh, he will say it
Freddy loves the way you close your eyes and throw your head back
While you laugh, he’s always watching you with hearteyes
But of course, you can’t tell, being too busy laughing
Hearing him rant about superheroes
And talking about your favorites
And debating what superpowers you two would have
As well as what you would do with them
Playing games like ‘would you rather’ or ‘truth or dare’
Often involving said superheroes subjects
Freddy loves showing you new stuff for his collection
When he got himself a batarang, he spoke about it for weeks
Telling you every detail about how he got it
As well as the many times Batman has used it
When Billy came into Freddy’s life, things started changing
He was so annoyed with you two, telling you to start dating already
Darla had mentioned something of the like, but you didn’t believe her
As adorable as she was, she was just a child with a lot of imagination
And at first you were convinced that Billy was just messing with you
But he made you see those little things you and Freddy do for each other
Things that might even go beyond friendship, even one as close as yours
And you might have started dating soon after that thanks to him
