So I want to talk about something I had to deal with last night from a grown ass man on Facebook. I happened to mention DCA in a comment on a drum corps post, complimenting the underage junior corps and saying that I hope some of those involved chose to continue their career after age out with a DCA group. Then my comment mysteriously disappeared. So then to this group I posted this photo above. My corps. A DCA corps. I asked people to share their own DCA love as we moved closer to finals. Well, comment deleting asshole reappeared and had the audacity to let me know that DCA was not real drum corps and his group, "Drum Corps 2000-present" was only for Junior corps. So let me get this straight. We work our asses off all year. We field amazing shows. But because some of our members are over 21 that makes us not real drum corps. That's some bullshit. It's bad enough that many people don't know DCA or how amazing it actually is. They don't know they have that option at any point in their career. Before or after age out. My corps is everything to me. My members range in age from high school to into their 60's. collectively following their passion for marching. So help me prove people like that douche canoe wrong. Help spread the word about DCA. Tell your stories and call out anyone who tries to silence you. And if your a member of that group, do what you like with this information, but I recommend leaving it. The person who owns it is an insult to the drum corps world. They have no respect for the community as a whole and our collective hard work. Join groups that build the sport up, instead of tearing it down. DCA, DCI, DCEuro, and everyone involved in the marching arts, I love you. Keep doing what you're doing. Keep growing the sport and supporting each other. This is a wonderful community. Cherish it.
