@dcadxshot // Ben and Eliza have reunited
Exhaustion doesn't begin to cover the weight that wraps deeply to her bones -- heavy and leaden, dragging her to her core with every step taken towards the gates of home. Of safety. Back to where Ben is kept so carefully from the nightmare that is this world.
Eliza's breaths feel labored as she leans into that closed gate, listening to the scrabble and drag of dead fingers along sheet metal, grounding herself back in reality and not the drifting world. She doesn't register the people, the questions, the reverent fear that laces into the moment as the dead press in closer to their sanctuary. All she can think about is Ben -- where was he, when would she see him again, was he safe, did he know she was back. Her mind is a whirlwind of questions with no answer, fighting to keep up with them as they continue to dance and swirl against her skull.
Her mind is still wrapped into the world of questions she had become lost to, buried under it to the point of blotting out the sounds of people living and dead around her, that the minute familiar arms are around her, that first instinct is to stiffen -- drawing in a sharp breath of surprise. Brilliant emerald hues flare, pushing against the body pressed in close to her, trying to get away from them, before words and familiarity filter in through that fog clouding her mind. "Ben?" He was safe! He was alive! He was here! He was holding her! Gentle fingers curl into the fabric at his sides, melting into him, not wanting to let him go now that she knew it was him, fearing that if she did it would be some sort of dream.
"It hurts. Fuck it hurts!” aften
