DORMS

My (potential) roommate and I got our DORMS things today and we filled them out. Omg. I cannot believe how many different housing options there are now that there are the triple occupancy choices. I also just can’t believe how little I remember from filling out the DORMS shit last program. Hannah was asking me questions and I was like “I honestly do not remember.” I do know that last program Macie was our “lead” person and this time it was me.

Also, for our DORMS we can only link with two other people (so like three) so I’m really glad that Hannah and I decided not to try to find someone else to room with because that would have really sucked. We want to be in a two bedroom/four person, but there would have been no way for us to link with enough people to even fill such a small apartment dream. 

I’m really nervous this time around about the DORMS situation too. I have been seeing so many people end up in weird apartment situations, which just did not happen last program. My last program was the first time they ever did the DORMS thing and it actually worked out REALLY well, imo. I didn’t hear of anyone who didn’t get the apartments that they wanted, first choice. This time, no one seems to be happy where they’re being placed. I thought these things should be getting better, not worse. Plus, they’re doing the summer alumni program this summer for the first time in forever and I feel like that’s really fucking up housing for the fall advantage kids, because those are extra bodies that aren’t even gonna be there in the fall when the regular fall kids come in.

I don’t know. I can’t believe how close my check in day is and all that jazz. It’s super exciting and scary and I still cannot believe that I’m actually doing this again.

DORMS

I must say that I like the way Disney does things now when it comes to roommates and complex choosing. Previously you had to gather your roommates and stand in line together while you waited to figure out which complex still had availabilities. Obviously this lead to people who desperately wanted a certain complex and got there at 5am to sit there with their roommates while make everyone in Vista mad...I can speak from experience. So for all of this to be done online and not have to do this in person is pretty awesome.

The way it's done is interesting too. They send out numbers with the DORMS invitation email and they have you designate someone to pull everyone together. That's also the person who designates priority in apartment complex choice. After the person does that, everyone gets an email to go in and confirm that you want to be linked with these people. 

Something else that was interesting is that they make you fill out car information with all of the roommate preferences. Since last time I didn't have a car I don't know if there's going to be a big difference in check in time with that, but I guess we'll see if things run smoothly.

does anyone know whether DORMS preferences are first in best dressed? like will i be less likely to get my preferences if i wait a couple days to put them in??

Roommates

Any of my august 12th arrivals still looking for a roommate? 21+ one of my roommates had to drop out because of an injury and we are hoping to find someone i know last minute ughh! anyway the three of us are not really into partying and we are hoping for a 2 bedroom in Chatham

WDWDCP DORMS.. We can now officially choose our roommates and housing preferences before check in.. it even says "those choosing to line up at 7am will have NO ADVANTAGE to those choosing to line up later in the day. NO HAVING TO GET UP SUPER EARLY!! this is way more efficient on their part too
