We all know Nagito’s feelings towards Junko were a little more than complicated.
But Junko’s feelings towards Nagito weren’t.
She saw him much like a little pet.
Junko gets bored easily, but Nagito’s unpredictable - moreso as a Despair.
All of her other Despairs love her to pieces, as she planned. Yay.
But Nagito still regained his hatred for her, as well as growing to love her.
She doesn’t understand it, but she likes it.
Because it’s unusual.
That’s why he was her favourite, in a way.
What a weird mix of hope and despair.
What a pretty, silly little boy.
While she was hidden away in that tiny room playing Mastermind, she called him up often, just to hear him huff and speak to her like she was an inconvenience.
To be honest, her obsession with him was not quite as strong but just as twisted as his obsession with her.
After her death, Nagito was filled with all kinds of emotions he didn’t understand.
Was he mourning her? Or just mourning that he wasn’t there for her demise?
Whatever the case, she never really left him.
When he was brainwashed to love her, a part of his hate remained.
Therefore when he was allowed to hate her again, a part of that love remained also.
But he’ll never admit it.
Not even to himself.
Not even to anyone.
Not even if you grabbed him by the chin and squished those pale cheeks of his and demanded it of him.
Just like she used to.
