Lincoln watching Washington My only interest in Washington DC has come from keeping tabs of who's in the White House, the power play that happens in the West Wing and gossip that is whispered in the East Wing. Oh yes, and countless Hollywood movies featuring some of its famous monuments, memorials and buildings. Which is why it pays to travel with a local who clearly has an interest in history and loves nothing better than marching us lazy fellas to any historical place of interest each time we go on a road trip. So, on my first trip to Washington DC, if I was expecting to rub shoulders with politicians and other movers and shakers, I was sadly mistaken. My friend and host had other ideas. That's right. A walking tour of all the sights and sounds in the area. She had it all planned out. Aching feet and sweaty tees be damned. Truth be told, I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it for myself. Washington DC is like a huge, open air museum. There is something of interest, all within walking distance of each other. Clearly, the one that towers over them all is the Washington Memorial, towering at 555 feet. It is the tallest structure in Washington DC, at least for the foreseeable future. It can thank a law for that, which states that there can be no structure taller than the Washington Memorial. It is also the tallest stone monument in the world and the world's tallest obelisk. Geez, if, by chance you do get lost, or wish to rest your weary legs, like me at the Lincoln Memorial, let this monument be your point of reference. PS: What's the score, my American friends? ________________________________________ @nofixedaddrs #nofixedaddrs www.nofixedaddress.in _________________________________________ All within your reach 🇺🇲 #allwithinyourreach @visitwashingtondc #MyDCcool #DCtogether _________________________________________ ………. ……... …….. ……. …… ….. …. … .. . #washingtonmonument #washingtondc #dc #washington #usa #districtofcolumbia #america #visitdc #dclife #washingtonian #capitol #architecture #reflectingpool #washingtonexplored #dcphotography #igersdc #monuments #dceyes #dcfocused #mydc #monument #history #igdc #walkwithlocals #getoutside (at Washington, District of Columbia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHKxB92MLRx/?igshid=14hdo31cttoqz
