June 1966, Joan Kennedy poses in her garden for Washingtonian magazine. Joan was featured on the cover because humorist and columnist Art Buchwald selected her as one of the ten most beautiful women in Washington. In his article, he states that when he mentioned to Ethel that Joan was ‘very much in the running’, she said to him ‘Why don’t you give it to someone who had to work for it, rather than to someone who was born with it’. He later said that Ethel sent him a very bad photo of Joan. I don’t know if this is true, but if it is it’s hilarious 😂
