meta: does Tor think being a Werecrocodile is a blessing or a curse? and why?
He definitely considers it a blessing rather than a curse. A lot of his more pleasant thoughts and actions are clouded by this darker belief that what he’s doing when transformed as a werecrocodile is being something similar to an avatar of nature, taking back some from the humanoids that continually take from it. This mindset is an extension of some of the things he experienced as a young child still in Black Marsh. He started seeking Hircine’s power when he realized he didn’t have the physical prowess or skill yet to fight the clan of Naga that had destroyed his village and life. When he reached out to Hircine, it was to overcome the power gap between he and his enemies. This is also part of the reason he originally set off from Black Marsh in search of more martial skill, and continues to hold onto some of this desire today.
Tor-Acr now sees himself as a natural predator of humanoids, though he does tend to release the beast within when it wouldn’t cause a serious moral dilemma when he re-emerges from the state. He uses the blessing of Hircine often when adventuring in deep woods or underground caves and lairs – places where only lunatics or criminals would hide, or so he tells himself.
