it's  not  difficult  to  spot  milo  –  although,  it's  never  been  difficult  for  her  to  spot  milo.  he  either  has  no  idea  she's  coming,  or  he's  just  given  up.  she  saw  through  his  little  ‘  i’m  talking  to  my  mom  ‘  bit  (  even  if  her  own  mom  confirmed  he  was  in  fact  talking  to  his  mom  ).  by  now,  she’s  fairly  certain  she  knows  when  he's  AVOIDING  HER.  perhaps  she's  hoping  for  a  hail  mary  by  showing  up.  it's  all  she  can  expect  at  this  point.  “hey.”

IS  THAT  MAISIE  HOFFMAN,  CLEANING  UP  ALONG  THE  BEACH  ?  her  eyes  blink  once,  then  twice,  and  a  final  third  time,  just  to  make  sure  she  wasn't  fooling  herself.  she  didn't  think  maisie  would  take  her  good  deed  and  spin  it  into  her  own,  but  this  is  the  third  time  adhira  has  seen  maisie  in  the  midst  of  this  uncharacteristic act.  maybe  she  was  growing  ?  making  her  way  over,  one  brow  raises  apprehensively,  chin  raising  in  a  nod.  “what  are  you  doing  ?”

It had been six months since they'd moved to Palmview and Edgar was still trying to get to know all of his in-laws. Marco's family was considerably larger than his, and Edgar often found himself overwhelmed by them. He loved that his husband could be closer to his support system, but Edgar couldn't help but wonder how the Shephard family felt about him. After all, only less than a year ago he and Marco had been estranged. That couldn't be a point in his favor. So, he was on a mission to win them over one by one regardless of how long it took. "Thank you for joining me," he greeted Marco's younger brother. "I know this is all rather random."

it's  nice  to  be  at  one  table  with  his  brothers.  yes,  they  all  lived  in  the  same  city,  but  they  were  all  ADULTS  now.  well,  most  of  them  had  been  adults  for  awhile,  it  was  just  atlas  who  had  to  catch  up.  although,  his  schedule  wasn't  what  he'd  consider  ' adult  busy '.  perhaps  he  was  just  falling  behind,  in  classic atlas fashion.  marco's  gotten  up  to  go  to  the  bathroom,  and  atlas  waits  until  he's  fully  out  of  view  before  playing  the  role  of  LITTLE  BROTHER.  “so…”  he  takes  a  napkin,  wiping  the  grease  off  of  his  fingers.  “are  you  ever  planning  on  telling  us  about  this  secret  wife  of  yours  ?  or  am  i  just  the  last  person  you  tell  –  AS  ALWAYS  ?”

IT  WAS  A  NASTY  HABIT.  that  was  why  she'd  picked  it  up  in  the  first  place.  a  teenaged  summer  had  been  willing  to  try  anything  that  would  make  her  parents'  skin  crawl  –  cigarettes  included.  the  egg  was  on  her  face,  though,  because  it  had  become  a  habit.  one  she'd  tried  her  best  to  drop,  but  she  just  couldn't.  so,  her  meeting  in  the  conference  room  is  over  and  she's  made  her  way  to  the  entrance.  she's  digging  through  her  bag,  box of cigarettes  in  hand,  but  …  where  was  her  lighter  ?  there  was  just  no  way  she'd  forgotten  it.  she  takes  a  deep  breath.  “do  you  have  a  light  ?”

margaret  is  looking  in  the  fridges  for  a  suitable  box  of  beer  when  atlas  hears  a  commotion.  he  takes  a  few  steps  away,  trying  his  best  to  figure  out  where  the  sound  is  coming  from.  “no  fucking  way  …  margaret,  get  over  here.  there's  two  dudes  fighting."

“there's  been  some  confusion,  you  see,  my  roommate  is,”  face  contorts  as  she  looks  over  at  maisie,  hand  gesturing  open  palmed  to  her  entirely.  “blonde.”  her  cousin  is  on  the  other  side  of  the  phone,  one  of  the  rare  calls  she  gets  from  back  home.  the  descriptor  was  enough  for  her  to  know  exactly  what  adhira  meant,  and  she  hardly  cared  that  maisie  was  only  on  the  other  side  of  the  room.  they'd  bickered  back  and  forth  since  the  day  they  moved  in,  she  didn't  see  a  reason  to  try  and  change  that  now.  “and  incessantly  nosy,  so  i'll  have  to  let  you  go  now,  but  don't  be  a  stranger,  okay  ?”  she  knows  she  won't  get  another  call  for  at  least  six  months,  but  it  doesn't  hurt  to  say  it  anyway.  with  a  hefty  sigh,  she  settles  back  into  the  couch,  head  nodding  toward  the  blonde.  “what  are  you  even  doing  ?”
