Cupcakes and wishes
Breakfast time at the carnivals was not a time Merida was normally around. She either had her breakfast super early or skipped it for lunch later, just to avoid the rush of the dining car. Booths were always packed and the noise was sometimes to loud to stand, but today, Merida had let herself sleep in. The red head only let herself sleep in once a year, any other days of the year there was work to be done, but April 13th was sleep in day.
Lucky for her the dining car wasn't that packed, and she even managed to get a booth to herself up in the car corner of the carriage, looking outside the giant window happily and wondering what another year of her life would bring, for April 13th, marked Merida’s birthday. And six years at the carnival. The Scottish lass stared at the window, watching the morning go by slowly outside as the sun rose higher and higher, and more and more carnis wondered out of bed and started their work or adventures for the day- Merida liked watching her friends.
The cupcake she ordered for breakfast (not her normal meal of course) was place in front of her and Merida gave thanks before the lady left. Turning to her cupcake she stared at it for a moment with a little smile, birthdays were not a big thing for her at the carnival. Back home, her mother had always insisted in throwing the biggest party around, except she had no real friends to invite. Here she could celebrate in a little way that made her happy.
She was just about to pull out the small candle and lighter she hid in her pocket to make a wish when someone bumped into her table, knocking her cupcake to the ground and watching it make a mess on the ground.
“Does that mean my wish won’t come true then?” Merida tried to joke to herself as she looked up at the person who had bumped into her table, if they noticed what they had done, ready to reassure them it was fine and that she should have something healthier anyway. And yet she was a little sad, she had been looking forward to maybe, just maybe, she could wish something, and maybe, just maybe it could come true. Merida tried her hardest to be happy for everyone, but staring at her wish making cupcake on the ground she knew her smile wasnt a good one.
