The crowded school hallway always gave the siren some trouble, everyday it seemed like someone would nearly tip her chair over in the rush. It honestly scared her to death. Since Asa had been sick all week and Danny was out of town on some school trip so that meant Sello had to push herself all week and she still was having trouble finding her classes even after being at the school for several years now. Her therapist had chalked it up to some sort of trauma based memory issues or something. Sello just wanted to be normal but it was hard when you were the only kid in school with a tail.
The crowd today seemed especially vicious so the siren so she waited it out in a cleared out hallway, making her even more late than usual. When she finally made it to class, after having to talk to someone about where the hallway she needed to be was, she was fifteen minutes late.
"Ah Sello, nice to see you finally made it. Please make your way to your seat thank you." The history teacher had set her in the back of class so she wasn't a distraction which let eyes linger on her longer as rolled down the isle. She could usually handle the immense amount of social anxiety she'd built up over the years of being home schooled but today wasn't one of those days. By the time she rolled her self to her seat she felt not only like crying but also quiting school all together. Unluckily even after being at the school for nearly 3 years already this wasn't something she'd warmed up to, in fact she was pretty sure every day felt like the first day she'd starting going here.
"Since the festival is coming up, I want you to do an essay on one of the topics on the board. Each pertain to a different part of our history containing the sirens. You will be assigned a partner, so don't start jumping at Ms. Halász." The teacher explained. A sigh of relief slipped through Sello's lips at the last statement. As the teacher started listing of names Sello looked around the room, she didn't really know who much of these people were beside a few had classes with before. History was a required course but open to seniors and juniors so the population of older and younger students were mixed. "Sello Halász and Sage Summers." Sello's eyes fell on the only familiar senior in the room. As she made eye contact with girl her stomach felt it was being eaten away by piranhas.
