 Cafe Papeneiland 

At the corner of Brouwersgracht, on the edge of the Jordaan you find Cafe Papeneiland from 1642. It is said that a coffin maker and undertaker already sold drinks as a side business from that address as far back as around 1600. If that’s true he must have done so from an earlier house, because the construction of the Jordan district was only begun in 1612.
