Voiceover Recordings of BA Acting
There were some changes in the lesson plan for our studio lesson. Instead of doing a class recording, we recorded voice-overs of the BA in Acting students. For this assignment, its more of learning on how to communicate well with the artist. It is vital to put our communication skills into good use. The etiquettes of communicating with the voice-over artists to ensure that they feel comfortable and confident about the recording. By doing so, not only we are helping the artist, but we can also save time and and get a good faster.
After recording them, we had to go to edit the takes and mix it well to ensure the mix have good levels in volume and dynamics. James taught us about using de-esser in this mix too. A de-esser compresses the excessive sibilance that tends to be too much after the whole mix is compressed. This will ensure that it will not sound irritating or even hurt the listener's ears.
