De Lima, halatang naapektuhan na sa pagpakulong sa kanya ni Duterte (at sino naman hindi), ay hanap hanap na ang simbahang Katoliko na at least dalawang beses ng tumulong, na magpabagsak ng nakaupong Presidente.

"For a predominantly Catholic country, there seems to be a growing sentiment among the people I have spoken to that the Roman Catholic Church is slowly allowing itself to fall into irrelevancy," de Lima said in a statement issued on Saturday.

The justice chief also said she is not aware of any deal struck between government and the INC which caused the religious sect to end its protests. Malacanang has also denied that any specific deal was arrived at during a meeting with INC leaders over the weekend.
