German Greetings

I’m a huge fan of football (soccer) and so the set up for this chat revolves around that. It’s halftime at a Bundesliga game and the score is 1-1. I’ve gone to get a beer but I can’t really stop to talk to anyone as I’ve got to make it back to my seat for the start of the second half! This is the set up.

Me: Hallo Bastian! Bis bald.

Bastian: Was? So bald?

Drunken Fan: Guten Morgen Fraulein! 

Me: Guten Morgen? Nein, es ist Abend.

Drunken Fan: Abend? Was??

Me: Auf Wiedersehen Herr Bier.

Thomas: Guten Abend!

Me: Hallo! 

Thomas: W-

Me: Auf bald Thomas!

Thomas: . . .

Me: Hallo Ludwig!

Ludwig: Hallo! W-

Me: Bis später!

Ludwig: Bis dann!

LATER

Me: Guten Tag Gilbert! (hiccup)

Gilbert: Guten Tag? Nein, es ist Abend.

Me: Mmmmm Ja hallo. Bis morgen Gilbert?

Gilbert: Ja morgen. Tschüß.

Me: Tschüß.... Ah Gilbert!

Gilbert: Was?

Me: Gute Nacht!

Gilbert: Gute Nacht Fräulein Bier!

Notes:

Are bis bald and auf bald interchangeable? For example in English we say see you soon and see you in a bit and they’re equivalent. Same question for bis später and bis dann.

I read that some of these phrases aren’t used that often. Can anyone confirm or deny? haha
