oh MASSIVE BRAIN they don’t find emma in purgatory the first time but SHE finds cas the second time after he and dean get seperated. dean hugs cas all the same but instead of “you don’t have to i heard your prayer” it’s “dean…look” and emma peeks around the tree and cas is holding on to deans shoulder bracing him. and dean looks at emma and the clocks ticking ticking ticking. dean and cas share a look and pull her through with them, because of course they do. now what?
cas is…complicated. because he’s happy for dean (although dean is in crisis mode) but it only reminds him of his loss. dean got emma back…where is his jack? anyway cue emma going between dean and cas because dean is terrified of fucking her up and her being near sam and cas is filing the gap jack left with her.
then when jack Does come back you have to deal with emma feeling pushed into the background. and dean has to come to terms with her finally and decide who he’s going to be with her. of course of courseOFCOURSE he takes care of her it’s all he knows. and emma and jack get to bond over being originally perceived as Monster by dean
