The Escape
The Initiation / The Matron / The Escape
“No.” “But Mama-” “I said NO Coyote. I’ve told you a thousand times before, I don’t want you shooting with Deadlock.” “Why not?! You did! Everyone else who comes through goes out on missions” “Yea, and I got my knee shot out at 21. And I got lucky. I’ve seen far worse happen and I don’t want that for you. And you’re fifteen for Pete’s sake!” “Oi!” “Oh shut it Pete!”
Coyote “Jesse” Moon proceeded to pout as Lily went back to stocking drinks before muttering under his breath. “David says I’d be useful...” There’s a shattering of glass as it slips from Lily’s fingers and a glare so fierce the saloon grows quiet and her son suddenly looks nervous. She snags his arm and drags him into the storeroom, away from prying ears. “David Deadlock is a gaddam snake, I thought I told you to stay away from him! I work with him to survive until I can get us out of here.” she hisses. “Us? You and Me? Or all the whores you seem to care about more?” The slap on his cheek echoed in the small room. “The HELL has gotten into you boy?! You were raised by over half of them! They’re practically Family and you-- What kinda Shit has David been filling your head with?!” The resulting glare from her son made her blood run cold. “Apparently the Truth about who believes in me.” he spits before he slips past her, she’s scrambling for him as he bursts out the storeroom. “Coyote! Coyote!!” but the slippery lil devil has already barrelled out of the saloon, leaving Lily there standing torn. “I-if I may Miss Lily?” Lily’s head whips to Pete, sympathy on his face. “He’s a heavy thinker... He’s probably ran off to blow off steam. Just...Give ‘im some time....” Slowly, Lily nods and sighs, making her way back to her office to do some thinking herself.... ~*~
The sun was starting to set when Lily started to get worried of where he’d run off to, and there was creeping feeling that something was wrong... when the first explosion rocked the saloon. Screams rang out as the few men loitering about jumped and raced out, Lily’s team beginning defensive procedures. The Matron slipped into mission mode, barking orders here and there as the explosions and gunfire inched their way closer and closer to the compound, everyone tense. As the door burst opened, all guns were instantly trained on-- a bloody deadlock shooter, clutching his side as he leaned against the door frame. Lily rushed to him as he wheezed. “B-Blackwatch.... at the East wall... Too Many... Too Skilled.” The workers began to panic murmur amongst themselves but it fell deaf on Lily’s ears as fear began to grip her. “Did you see Coyote?” The man began to hem-and-haw before Lily snagged him by the collar and shoved him against the frame “WHERE IS COYOTE?!” “H-He was Flanking the Front line andand he he took out a good chunk b-before they got ‘im... --A-Alive! One of them barked to t-take him away a-and kid c-cursed them the whole way.” Lily actually paled, slowly releasing him as she felt her world come crashing down for the second time in her life.
“..oon....ma.... Moon... LILY!!” “Huh?!” “What do we do?” Lily looked over her charges, workers, family, the fear in their face as these people were trained in self defense, but not to fight.... and there was no telling what Blackwatch would do to them... She lead the injured deadlock fighter behind the bar, grabbed a bottle of the good whiskey....then shoved him into the storeroom with it, locking it behind her, turning to her stunned staff. “Code Free Bird Y’all.” Everyone scrambled to gather their things, Lily leaping towards her office and tearing open the safe, and checking her cameras to find a gap... There! After tossing a few last things into her emergency bag, she tore downstairs where the others were gathered, some of her stronger staff helping the dainty ones into the jeeps. She began to div-vie up the Saloon’s finances amongst the workers and bark instructions. More than one began to notice though. “Mama Moon, what about you? Aren’t you coming with?” asked the youngest...17, not unlike her when she got roped into this mess. Lily just gently papped her face and gave her a tired smile. “I’ll be fine... I’ve just got to get my son first.” With that, she thumped the back of the jeep, and it began to pull away, despite cries from some of the charges. She watched them until they rounded a corner, out of her sight, before booking it to the stable, and saddling up her horse, a dapple gray gift given to her by Deadlock shortly after Coyote’s birth. Together, her and Sage Winds made it out of Deadlock, before heading east to track down this infamous Blackwatch, and get her son back.
