Exhaled breath turned to a cloud in the cold air, even so close to the flames of the campfire. Down she scrunched into the welcoming caress of the wool blanket, heavy knit and draped around her shoulders like a cape, trailing down to the mass of her tail, wrapped in its own blanket - but even through her fabric cloak and dramatized fear, there was the bright white of her serrated teeth curved into a smile. A blue glow contested with the warm yellow fireside, as the tips of her fins lit up in an expression of curiosity all the further, of intrigue.
They were way too good at this, honestly.
“And what might happen if it does want you there?” Head peeked out from between the drawn curtain of her comfort, pupils wide and admiring, shining in a backdrop of electric blue as the ambient light reflected off her tapetum lucidum. The merprincess was transfixed, bound up in story and overwhelming atmosphere, voice dropped to a whisper. Claws perched against the rough-hewn bark of the log, keeping her balance as she leaned forward, fins turning forward like radar dishes to hear everything they had to tell.
“What awaits for me, there?”
