By pure luck I was able to get some spools of the legendary swiss saddler thread. It was used by the saddlers contracted by the Swiss Army (till about 1986) for hand sewing the everlasting leather & canvas goods. I possess some of the backpacks and leatherbags which have served years in the military and are now about 60 years old. None of them I seen so far had bad seams. Not by its rugged use, age or storage. So it's a joy to test these deadstock spools and probably work with them in the future. Luckily the thread is still in superb condition and strong. I was not able to break it and it's uncommon to see a linen thead this thick with such a even surface which usually only has the finer Lin cable au Chinois. #deadstock #deadstockthread #swissarmy #saddlery #schaffhausen #genf #schweizer #sattlergarn #corderie #geneve #seaming #leinenzwirn #sattlernaht #sattlerei #garnrollen (hier: Alexander von Bronewski Manufaktur)
