By pure luck I was able to get some spools of the legendary swiss saddler thread. It was used by the saddlers contracted by the Swiss Army (till about 1986) for hand sewing the everlasting leather & canvas goods. I possess some of the backpacks and leatherbags which have served years in the military and are now about 60 years old. None of them I seen so far had bad seams. Not by its rugged use, age or storage. So it's a joy to test these deadstock spools and probably work with them in the future. Luckily the thread is still in superb condition and strong. Eine feine Handnaht bzw. eine Sattlernaht. Elegant und nahezu unzerstörbar. Wie der Name schon sagt wurde sie für den Umgang mit Pferden verwendet um Steigbügel, Zaumzeug oder Zügel so zu vernähen das der Faden sich keinesfalls von selbst auftrennt. Ein beruhigendes Gefühl hier nicht nur schön zu nähen sondern auch sehr verlässlich.
