Labyrinth of Touhou
System: PC
Surprise, I’m playing Labyrinth of Touhou 1 again!
I was supposed to do a New Game+ run but my save got glitched (even if I select NG+, I get stuck with Level 40 Tenshi right at the start of the game). Since I’m not mentally prepared for Labyrinth of Touhou 2, I decided to try a fresh run of LOT1 again. I’m mostly using this as an excuse to see the minimum amount of time needed to beat the game (I don’t see this as a strict speedrun in any way though). I also want to test a few character builds (like, SPD-build Cirno, MND-build Wriggle and *checks notes* FIR-build Rumia??)
So far, with animations turned off and a walkthrough on hand, you can do the first 10 floors in about 10-ish hours. I’m not sure if this 1 hour per floor is going to hold up with Floors 10-12 though.

I finally played this. It was pretty *okay*.
The core concept of the game (where you keep up a rhythm) is very, very fun and very, very appealing to me. Unfortunately, I kind of hate everything else i this game. Repeating levels just to get a good army is very annoying and the minigames range from boringly easy to frustratingly hard.
I think hearing that Patapon 2 was basically what I should have gotten over Patapon 1 is probably affecting my perception of the game too. Still, I enjoyed my time (even if I ended up LOATHING that final boss)
Time Crisis 4 (part of Time Crisis: Razing Storm)
System: PS3

God, this was so fun to play again.
I used to be all about Time Crisis as a kid; my dad (when he was still cool) completed Time Crisis 1 on the PS1, and I myself used to be all about Time Crisis 2 and 3 on the PS2. We even had a G-Con peripheral from the PS1 days that we used up until the PS3 (then it just upped and left, disappearing into the ether while nobody was looking).
Despite Time Crisis 4 being my least played TC4 game, the nostalgia still hit hard, probably because it does the Virtua Fighter thing and reuses the same, old ass sound effects from the older Time Crisis games (I assume this because there’s no way in hell I’m getting nostalgia from these garish ass character designs, or the drab, shitty PS3-era military shooter plot)
But yeah, this game is a good time. (Also, I just want to say, I love that fucking dork Rush and his dumb dreads)

This was a pack-in with Time Crisis 4 and the only good thing I have to say about this game is that the cutscenes are good (but only in an ironic way)
Tetris 99
System: Switch

Arguably the only good thing about being trapped with family in this trying time is that I’ve gotten to mooch off my brother and play Tetris 99 on his Switch. It’s very, very fun, I have gotten like 26th place at one point, even though I haven’t played Tetris in a decade (possibly longer).
When we first started playing Deadstorm Pirates at Nicklecade we were 69th. After today thighs we now have the fourth place on the machine!! I'm so proud!
