DeadTime Stories (1986)
Not to be mistaken with other films of the same name. The mid 80s was full of horror anthologies on the tails of Creepshow fever. The lower the budget the less the surprise. Often short or unfinished films would get edited into something new. Classic story telling of a little boy that wants his uncle to tell him a bedtime story but the bratty kid keeps demanding more and more stories so the weirder things get. Three stories are told , all very cheesy but fun in their own silly way with fairly cool practical effects and monster make up for the budget they were dealing with. Practical monster effects on low budgets are really something the 80s did so well. First story is a bit dryer than the others but probably better written. Its about two witches and a young man with an amazing if not kinda gross scene involving ising a dead man from just blood and guts. The next two stories were a Red Riding hood and Goldilocks spoofs with some interesting demented twists going much more on the humorous side but not free of their own blood and guts. I remember seeing this many times on a worn out vhs or bad vhs ripped downloads but seeing it cleaned up really made a difference for this silly waste of time, but a fun waste of time and fuck what do most of us have to do right now then waste some time. So let an hour and a few minutes pass by with Dead Time Stories you filthy animals. Now god to bed!
