Many of you know this already, but I used to work at Blockbuster. I started May of 2002. One of the advantages of the job is employees were allowed to preview new releases (up to 5 a week) if they were returned before the day they were released. With that in mind, I checked the dates and, as far as I can tell, it was December 11th, 2003 when I first saw “Shredder”. It was the last week of fall semester. I had entered into an on campus play contest and found out that day my script had been chosen. At the time, there was only one person I wanted to know. This was the girl I had an enormous crush on at the time. I gave her a call and left her a voicemail. I went to the pile of pre-releases I had a decided to watch “Shredder”. I had gotten maybe 10-15 minutes into it before my father approached me with the phone. “It’s for you.” I took the phone and it was her. She was over-the-moon regarding my win. Kept saying how excited and proud she was of me. She asked what I was doing to celebrate. I told her, “Watching some horror movie I’ve never heard of about a killer skier at an abandoned ski resort.” She laughed, saying, “I guess we’ll have to watch that after break.” Eventually, the conversation ended and I resumed watching the movie. I was excited and smiling. I was happy. I never ended up watching it with her and I haven’t spoken to her in 5+ years, but watching the movie always reminds me of that night when things seemed kinda okay for a change. #shredder #greghuson #scottweinger #lindsaymckeon #bluray (at Eastpointe Apartments) https://www.instagram.com/p/CmPLVLtAIH9/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
