Deaf!Oikawa (Just a little idea I've been working on)
Oikawa stayed by the bar, eyes closed and a drink in his hand. He felt the heavy bass beat around him, shaking his body. The strobing lights flashing so brightly he could see them even with his eyes closed. He felt a tap on his shoulder and opened his eyes, turning around to smile at the bartender who happened to be his best friend growing up.
“Not dancing tonight?” Iwaizumi signed fluently. Oikawa shook his head and finished his drink, holding up his glass as his way of asking for another. Iwaizumi rolled his eyes before turning to make another mixed drink, sliding it across the bar carefully. “I’m cutting you off after this.”
Oikawa pouted. “No fun Iwa-Chan.” He picked up his new drink and turned back to the dance floor. It’s not that he didn’t want to go out and be in the crowd of people. He just didn’t want to have to once again deal with people trying to flirt with him and him having no idea until they get pissed off and storm away, thinking they’re being ignored.
Oikawa pounded his fist on the bar to get Iwaizumi’s attention, setting his drink down and signing for the bathroom before turning and heading off through the throngs of people. As he walked, his heart beat synced up to the new bass pulsing through the air as the song changed.
He squinted against the brighter lights that illuminated the bathroom hallway, the one part of this club that he really didn’t like because he always felt blinded and disoriented coming from the dark of the main club. He stumbled back when he bumped into someone coming out of the bathroom.
Hands were on his shoulders, steadying him as he righted himself. He blinked up a few times, taking in the concerned face of the silver haired man who had almost knocked him over. Finally he looked down at the mana lips to try and read them, shaking his head when the man was speaking too quickly.
He stepped away and pointed to his ear, shaking his head, trying to convey that he couldn’t hear. The mana expression softened a little and he repeated himself slowly. “Are you okay?” Oikawa smiled shyly and nodded before pointing to the door behind them, still needing to use the bathroom. The silver haired man stepped aside to let him by, watching him with a mild curiosity.
