frank has trouble learning ASL at first because he's not facially expressive enough. he feels kind of weird making the proper faces at first, but after watching gerard sign very expressively (and finding it incredibly cute/cool to see how gerard's natural enthusiasm about everything translates into sign) he doesn't have as much trouble with it.

oh i like this a lot?? i know the feel tho in my class we’re all very :| out of habit and our teacher is like YALL cause it changes the meaning of things if ur deadpan. also g poking fun at frank for being all stony faced half the time is pure.

uhv gerard becoming 92% deaf in his left ear due to an explosion on a case they work. frank is worried sick about him but he's otherwise fine so gee tells him to 'Relax frankie you'll run yourself into the ground.' once the pain and the ringing subsides gee feels better and he tells frank 'hey, it could have been worse. i'm alive and we're all safe, alright?' and frank concedes and they learn to live with it p quickly and start taking ASL classes and teaching the other's how to sign too

And sometimes Gerard has a bit too much coffee and Frank has to tell him to slow down because he can't keep up anymore, and Gerard looks a little bit embarrassed but Frank kisses his slightly shaking hands with so much adoration in his eyes

Ooh imagine Gerard sleepy and tired because he hasn't got his coffee yet, and it's sloppy and slow and when he gets his coffee and signs with one hand so he doesn't have to put it down it slowly gets more energetic until it's super fast and excited

the signing equivalent of being all hoarse and sleepy sounding when u wake up……perfect

i wonder that all the fucking time. me and steph have discussed like. since he was deafened later in life there is a lower chance However mikey did get a children’s book about singing for kristin which is 👀 bc if mikey knew sign the most obvious place that woulda came from is g? also my icon which steph said might just be the metal horns thing but tbqh ive never seen someone do that with the thumb out so

Hoh gee sketching in public, taking out his hearing aids so he can focus and Frank sits and watches him work over his shoulder and makes sure no one disturbs him

Imagine if Hoh Gerard has to turn off his hearing aids in supermarkets and airports and let Frank take care of any talking because the sound level is just too much. Frank keeps signing so they know what's going on and signs "I love you" like 50 times

i dig that like. HAs can totally help but in high noise level areas they can also totally make it worse and be a pain in the ass i dig that a lot
