my take on what some pairings in f1 reminds me of based on their actual interactions and not my fandom interpretations (so this isn't ship related nor blorbo related, it's how i actually see them outside of fandom)
charles and carlos: siblings close in age but already adults core - like you are already old enough not to be only fighting and the majority of your interactions are funny and fond but every once in a while something flips and you are once again 10 fighting for the game controller
alex and carlos: favourite cousin core - this is the pairing that made me think of this post, bc i said they were siblings core and it sounded wrong and it made me realise that i think of charlos much more as siblings bc of how they were when they fought. alex and carlos have the sibling dynamics without the usual petty conflict siblings tend to have, you get the intimacy and the teasing but not the accidentaly hit your sibling with the zipper on the pillow on a random wednesday afternoon kind of thing thus favourite cousin core
carlos and lando: brothers by everything but blood core - it's by far the fondest of dynamics, like you have the affection and teasing of siblings or cousins but because you chose them, you are even closer than any family dynamic, it's not forced proximity, it's a deliberate one. the kind of friendship in which you can not think of love without seeing their face in the rearview.
lando and oscar: work colleagues turned work husbands by trauma bonding core - it is a forced proximity kind of thing, but you have a strong fondness for them that only grew bigger anytime your boss pissed you off
carlos and max: friends pulled apart by distance, but who you are still very fond of and when you occasionally interact you have only affection for what you used to be and what you have become core - i think the title itself was already descriptive enough
alex and george: childhood friends turned husbands core - you have a similar fondness to brothers by everything but blood, but an intimacy that only time spent growing up together can give and that intimacy is so big it blurs the lines of siblings or dating trend, but shared throat infections do not lie. like this is the person you would take your morning piss in front of while their brushed their teeth kinda of thing you know
2019 rookies when all together: close friends from teenage years core - directly implicates the next two, but you have very clear fondness between you, but the teasing borders criminal
george and lando: that one friend you can let out all the deranged parts of you core or close friend from younger teenage years core - kinda of person you would have mugshots taken with after a drunk arrest
lando and alex: also close friend from teenage year but it's later years of teenagehood - the teasing is very much present but it's seasoned, it got layers to it
max and lando: old toxic close friend core - you were very close and you have an insane affection for them, but your other relationships when compared made you realise it is toxic but you can't seem to let them go, you bring out the worst in them, they bring out the worst of you, after all you know all of their buttons, they know yours. you try to put distance between you, but past history and ongoing affection always bring them closer again
nico and gabi: age gap work friend core - when you befriend a 50yo in your new office job bc time does not exist inside the existential prison that is workplace
max and kimi: that one younger kid you end up adopting out of nowhere core - kind of lando and keegan father and papa thing if they were further in age
george and kimi: cousins core - controversial i know, but you have the forced proximity that is more similar to family dynamics than work colleagues, but you don't have the fighting of a sibling nor the teasing of a favourite cousin, kind of affection you get for a younger cousin
gabi and ollie: close friends but you are still in school core - you still lack the seasoning of forced distance, so you are very close and teasing is to teenage years level but you haven't been apart that much, you see each other very frequently, which means you lack the longing that comes with future years
kimi and ollie: friends who switched schools core - you were once very close friends but one of you changed schools and you thought that would never affect your friendship but the contact between you gets more and more scarce, the memories that before used to always be shared never carry their face anymore and where fondness used to be grows resentment bc you promised each other nothing would change and yet here you are kind of thing
lando and lewis: that one younger sibling from a very close friend that looks up to you and you look proudly and fondly on them as they start dreaming of a life that looks so much like yours or also very much younger cousin that looks up to you core
lewis and carlos: person that has gone through the same horrors as you did so you have trauma bond without closeness core - like kind of when someone befriends a person you stopped being friends with and they finally understand why you stopped being friends with that person
esteban and pierre: childhood friends to lovers to enemies core - they have such crazy lore it is simply impossible to dissociate from fandom speak
