Happy April God People.

1st Corinthians chapter 10:3-4 shares that all of the Israelites ate the same supernatural food which was the Mana falling from the heavens and drank the same water from the rock which followed them referred to also as Christ who in St. John Chapter 4 offered living water and eternal life. Despite having their food literally fall out of the sky daily some forgot who God was and all of the Israelites didn’t make it to the promised land because some of them wanted something other than God, so much so that they melted their jewelry and created their own gods. This is why it is so critical that we share Gods word with all those we love and encourage them to live for Christ. While we understand why he died and we celebrate his resurrection this month it is the pain brought on by the sudden death of loved ones that is difficult to manage. Below a bit of medicine for those wounds.

Let it comfort you to know that despite how your loved one died he or she has eternal life in Jesus Christ if they accepted him as their savior. See John 3:16

Understand that your relationship to God is supernatural and there will be things that you don’t understand. What we can understand is that the Passion of Christ which comes from the Latin word “Passio” meaning to suffer, happened on our behalf so that we have hope in and beyond this world. Christ did the suffering for us and overcame the grave. Although it’s hard we have to see death with our spiritual eyes and understand that it is not the true end. See John 3:16

Know that because man has free will the way that your loved one died may be painful and beyond your understanding. People make choices that change the lives of complete strangers. Only God knows why he allows what he allows. Job lost his entire family but said “Though he slay me yet will I trust him”Job 13:15 his faith was rewarded during his life because of his trust in God over the things he couldn’t understand.

Ecclesiastes 7:1-4 states “ the day of death is better than the day of birth” Because we live in the flesh we want to hang on to the people that we love and even go as far as to want to die before them to selfishly prevent our own suffering. Our lives do not belong to us, they belong to God.Matt10:30 and Luke12:7 state that he has numbered even the hairs on our head. You don’t know your loved one the way God knows them.

The fact is unless you live until Jesus returns you will die. We all will, and no one knows the day or hour that he returns however he did say the following Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all sleep but we shall all be changed. 1 Cor 15:51

When you die someone will likely prepare an obituary with the date you were born and the date that you died written in it. Both of those days are determined by God alone. Your job is to manage that small dash in the middle by giving that to God as well and allowing him to direct your path. Praise God that your loved one lived that dash serving God.
