When I worked for THQ on license games, my art was rather different…
I was working in pencil, then scanning it in to color it. We have a big chunky early 2000s scanner to pass around the office.

'G.Darius'
[PS1] [UK] [MAGAZINE] [1998]
"A lot of work has gone into giving G.Darius an unusual visual flair. And the effort has paid off. All of the animated backgrounds, creatures and ships are beautifully rendered whilst staying true to the classics of the shoot'em-up genre. The power-ups are endless and the addition of the capture-ball feature adds to the arcade experience. Unfortunately, although there are 60 routes to take, the 15 levels of play aren’t enough to keep you involved for more than a few hours." ~Sam Thomas, PlayStation Pro (October 1998, #25)
