What was your favourite book as a child? My favourite book when I was like 5 or 6 was called Sally and the Limpet, ans when I was a teenager I really loved Pride and Prejudice. My fav books now are Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran
Which literary character have you always been able to relate to? Ooh, that’s a good question! There are loads of characters I’ve admired but because I’ve read from different genres e.g. fantasy, historical, there isn’t a definite character that I’ve found I could definitely relate to
Do you consider yourself a great reader? Eh, I always stick by my favourite books and constantly reread them and I’ve read a few classics, but I don’t bother finishing a book that doesn’t grab me
What is your favourite film adaptation of a book? I love the BBC adaption of North and South, the 2005 Pride and Prejudice, and the LOTR series will always be a fave!
How do you feel about modern web series adaptations of current books? I love them! I think it’s a great way to connect to a modern audience, and an original way of adapting the story. I recommend the Lizzie Bennet Diaries, which is a modern adaption of Pride and Prejudice
What is your favourite genre? Mainly fantasy and historical fiction
Who is your literary crush (if you have one)? Oh god where do I start
How do you feel about ebooks and audiobooks? I like them- I’m studying abroad at the minute so it’s really nice being able to have access to all my favourite books without taking up a load of luggage space
Have you ever cried whilst reading a book? Oh god, all the time. If you like historical fiction and you want to have your heart stomped on, you could read my favourite book, Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran. It does have quite a happy ending, but bring the tissues. Oh, and of course the Harry Potter series as well.
Are there any books you needed to read for a class that you ended up enjoying? I loved North and South, and I really liked reading Antigone by Jean Anouilh
Would you rather read a new story, or reread a favourite? I reread my old favourites at least once a year, so probably that
