Marnus Labuschagne Named Domestic One-Day Cup Player of the Year 🏏🇦🇺
What a redemption story this is.
Just months ago, Marnus Labuschagne was dropped from Australia's international squads after a brutal run of form — averaging just 15 in Tests and struggling with scores of 1 and 1 in ODIs against South Africa. The critics were circling. Some were even writing him off entirely.
Then came the 2025-26 domestic season. And Labuschagne responded the only way he knows how — with runs. Lots of them.
By early November 2025, he had smashed five centuries in just eight domestic innings across formats, positioning himself as the leading run-scorer in the Sheffield Shield and silencing every doubter in the process. One of those tons came against New South Wales — a composed 101 off 111 balls — his fifth century of the summer, all but confirming his return to the Ashes squad.
Earlier in the campaign he had already produced a captain's knock of 130 off 118 balls against Victoria — his first List A century since the 2016-17 season — combining patience with aggression to guide Queensland to a 55-run victory.
Now he's been named Domestic One-Day Cup Player of the Year. Deserved. Fully.
This is what elite cricketers do when their backs are against the wall — they let the bat do the talking. 🙌
