Didactic Nostalgia - [ deanofmaria ]
An insouciant breeze blew, threatening to compromise the hem of Hanji's skirt. Caught in its wake, a flurry of leaves and fallen flower petals blew past her in a balletic display, but it barely registered with her. Lost in circuitous ruminations on ruination, Hanji clutched her books to her chest and ambled on her way towards the bus stop on the southwest corner of campus.
Working at Maria High was always awkwardly nostalgic. Every time she traversed the college campus as she walked to work, she was forced remember with melancholic sentimentally the halcyon days of when things were gloriously uncomplicated. At least, less complicated.
Her increasingly disconsolate thoughts were thankfully uninterrupted by a familiar sight. Down the path near by science building, she saw the tall form of Dean Smith strolling contemplatively in her direction. She paused and, without thinking, strode over to him.
"Dean Smith," she greeted him, an awkwardly foolish smile playing on her lips as she pushed her errant fringe behind her ears. "I don't know if you remember me, but I used to work in your office for my Work Study. Hanji."
She gave a little wave, immediately regretting the ridiculously girlish gesture. The last thing she wanted to look like to him was some idiotic fangirl. Too late, she mused.
