I think I’m just going to hide it under all of dad’s other papers! That will totally work, right? My report card came in before dad could go get the mail, I know I should do better in high school but dad was never really there, and yes I also know that dad probably wants me to succeed but I don’t want to. I want to be a hunter, just him and my uncle Sam, and my grandfather John. I wanna be just like dad.
I hide it under the papers in the dining room since dad wasn’t very good about cleaning things, I was hoping that by the time he got around to cleaning this part of the house that I’d be able to catch my grades and bring them up where dad says they should be.
Two Weeks Later
Dad had gotten home last night and actually wanted to be helpful and clean so I said I’d clean the kitchen if he would do the dining room since you know that like where are supposed to eat our food even if it’s take out, or pizza.
What I had failed to forget was that my report grade was sitting in the pile of papers that he was totally going to go through. Too late now I said to myself, maybe I’ll get lucky and he’ll just fall asleep on all the papers instead.
“Y/N, Come here right now!” Dean said to his daughter from the other room. He had found the report card that was supposed to be at the apartment last week. Dean wasn’t upset or mad at his daughter just more confused as to why it was in his pile of papers and why there were 2 failing grades on the piece of paper in his hands.
She came walking in her hands behind her back, shoulders slouched, her phone not in her back pocket. “Yes, daddy?” She said. “Honey. Why is your report card in my papers where it’s going to long forget about, and lost?” One problem at a time Dean thought if Y/n mother had taught him anything it was patience and asking questions one at a time and waiting for the answer. Instead of banging and shooting first then ask.
“Well you see dad, I brought the mail in one day before you came home so I just put everything on your stack of papers.” She said hoping that it would suffice for the reason and she could run away back to her cleaning the kitchen. “Okay, First I don’t believe you. Give a better excuse, and second Why are there 2 failing classes?” Dean said, his tone of voice is very calm, and his patience not running low yet.
“Well, dad…… I honestly don’t have any excuses. I guess I just wanna be like you, I wanna be like Uncle Sammy, I want to be a hunter. So yes maybe some classes have been failing, but that’s only because Charlie has been helping me train.” She said this time looking up at her dad.
“God, I can’t stay mad at you when you say that now can I? I love you Pumpkin. Come here give me a hug, and lets order some pizza and watch some old black and white movies.” Dean said tears just trickling his eyes. His daughter almost every day reminded him of his wife, they almost seemed so far apart and so similar.
