Birdsong by Sebastian Fawkes I have only read 1984 once, because it left me feeling empty for days. I had to reread the last page about 10 times because I couldn't comprehend what had just happened. Also I think that because of all the whistleblowing by Edward Snowden about the NSA, 1984 has never been more important. The Harry Potter Series is what really got my starting reading from a young age. I will always remember having to wait patiently to pick up the next book to find out what happens next! Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my favourite books. It transports me back to a different time and culture - and one that I'm really interested in. I would also recommend watching the film adaption as it is a truly beautiful film. Pride and Prejudice was the first "classic" book that I ever read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I enjoyed Elizabeth's wit, and I love the moral of the story. I had watched the BBC adaption of Jane Eyre which I really liked which lead me to read the book. Although I still love the adaption to this day, the book just has this eerie feel to it that wasn't captured in the BBC adaption. Misery was recommended to me by one of my English teachers at school which I really did enjoy reading. It was a book that I couldn't put down. I felt trapped just like the main character, and need to find out what happened next. I also think the "villain" is one of my favourites that I have read. A Song of Fire and Ice had me busy reading for months and I couldn't put them down. I spent the whole of summer 2012 reading these bad boys. And I can't wait for The Winds of Winter to come out! Mockingjay again left me quite depressed actually. So much so that I had to take the day of work. I personally am not satisfied with the ending, but there is nothing I can do about it. I read Catcher in the Rye in a strange time in my life, and it fitted well with how I was feeling at the time. I still think that all teenagers should read this book. Birdsong was recommended to me by my older sister. It was the first book where it wasn't for a school assignment, and when I really started to enjoy reading.I was reading in on holiday with the family and it was devoured within a few days.
