How heart breaking is it to love and not be loved back the same way as you do. 

To give and give but only receive the bare minimum to feel loved. 

And they trick you into believing that they care but then you realize that they never really back up their words with their actions. 

They drown you in flowery words until you believe them--that what they give is what you only deserve, and then you feel guilt and confusion when you begin to doubt them. 

I hope you realize what true, genuine, healthy love really is. 

Love is not what they say, but what they do to and for you.

Don't be content with just their confession of love, watch what they do to prove it.

They can say you mean the world to them over and over but what do they really do to prove that?

You know what hurts more than ex-lovers?

The ones that got away.

That person we loved but couldn't have.

That person that owns all our "what if's" and "what could've been".

The ones that makes us overthink about the happiness and future we could've had with them.

The ones that causes our heart to ache when we think of them; not because of a love that ended, but for a love that never begun.

They're the ones that makes us question ourselves.

What happened? Why couldn't we be together? What did I do? What should I have done to make things work? What should I have said for you to stay and call me yours?

The ones that got away are the ones that are harder to forget. 

Because we never really got the full picture of them, just what they left for us to keep and contemplate about.

I've been told to never be too vulnerable with my feelings. To not admit my fears and weaknesses, or else they'll be used against me.

I've been told to shut up when I cry. To stop being dramatic when I complain. And to stop being selfish when I choose my wellbeing over their needs.

I hope that you don't let them guilt trip you against choosing yourself. Don't let them stop you from expressing your truth.

Don't give them the power to mould you. Live your life the way you want to. Because your life is yours only to own. 

You know yourself better than they do. 

Don't let them gaslight you into believing otherwise.
