ok but talk about caroline in outlander ? :D
*breathes out slowly* oh man okay oh man, so caroline is a real 21st century girl. she loves things like indoor plumbing and scented candles and hair product and curling irons. so caroline existing in any other era where none of that is present? that’s a recipe for disaster. so there’s like 3 potential “verse” ideas that i’ve had in ways to m a y b e incorporate her into an oulander verse and they are as follows:
option number one: the basic ‘she touches the stones at a different time in time and gets sent back ladeeda’ that i kind’ve feel is just??? cheating, sort’ve? because that feels like the kind of verse that everyone would instantly leap to and in doing that one, i feel like it would cheat the fact that claire going back is a sort of anomaly. so that one i kinda took off the table right away bc it just didn’t sit right with me.
option number two: she was born in the past, lived in the past, just kinda...exists there. and like, i feel like she would have probably been someone on the non-clans end, probably grew up with some sort of wealth and had this desire to see something of the world and meet people that had something of an experience. there, i could see her pretty much leaving with someone, or getting swept away in the adventure and romance of that sort’ve lifestyle. but past!caroline is still very much modern!caroline and she’s...the kind’ve girl who would have gotten into trouble. a lot. talked back, stood up to people, probably punched someone for getting to handsy at one point or another.
option number three: sort of goes along with a verse that i already have in existence on my blog and its a time-travel verse where everything is canon, she’s a vampire, but at some point in her canon ( i always leave it verse dependent but usually it’s around seasons 5-6 ) a spell goes awry and she gets sent back in time. so its modern caroline, as a vampire, back in the 1700s probably screwing with a lot of stuff and complaining about a lot of things all the while trying to find a way back home. and she’d probably get into a lot of the same trouble claire did originally ( being accused of being a spy or a witch, those sorts of things ) but she also would have had the aid of compulsion and her vampy powers. from there, she’d probably either hear about claire / try and work with her to get back to the stones to maybe get sent back and then figure things out from there, or try and find the mikaelsons wherever they were at that time.
oKAY so those are the three i’ve debated over, if i ever did make a verse for it, which lbr i probably will at some point once i’m more up to date with the canon. but mostly, i’m leaning towards the third option bc it’s already somewhat fleshed out and...yeah. the only thing screwy with that is i feel awkward about bringing vampire mythologies into verses where they don’t exist.
