The Champion
Dear Seraphim,
Can we move a bit forward? Can I move to the part where you’re in your late twenties and you’re already making life changing decisions in your life? Can I go to that moment where you’re in the shower, confused and sad because you’re stuck and you can’t do anything but to be just stuck at the moment? I hope you take a deep breath and I hope you tell yourself to take it easy. I hope you close your eyes and be grateful of your small wins. I hope you appreciate more the people who loves you.
I hope you appreciate your mother who checks up on you even your thousand miles away from them. I hope you appreciate your friends who ping your phone and ask to hang out with you.
I hope you appreciate your man. I don’t know who you will be with, but I hope you find serenity in his fidelity. I don’t want you to be satisfied with material things that a person could offer. There will be time that you’ll crave for that believe me, maybe a younger version of yourself and that’s okay! It’s okay to like flowers, chocolates, dinner dates, and amazing gifts! But honey, you’ll grow out of it.
Maybe because one day, you’ll get to find out that it’s not the basis of what real love is. Because maybe a boy will give you flowers but it won’t mean a single thing to them. Maybe they will give you everything you want but at the same time they’ll be expecting you to give them what you have received and they’ll be disappointed when they weren’t able to receive them.
On your late twenties, maybe you can buy your own flowers, maybe you can buy yourself your own ring or even have a 5 star meal. So please, my dear Sera don’t focus on material things, focus on what’s inside of your man’s heart. Of course you want to feel special with these little things and of course you won’t tolerate a man who doesn’t give cutesy stuff to make a day beautiful but it’s not all about that. It’s about a man who makes you laugh when you’re in the middle of ugly tears. It’s about a man who have dreams with you in it. It’s about a man who’s striving hard to put that smile on your face and it’s about a man who’s truthful to you and calls you out on your bullshit.
Happy Valentines Day Sera.
Smile, be patient and you’ll get there.
You’ll be on where you’re supposed to be.
