“Well, Warden.” They’re a ways outside of the Dalish camp when Morrigan suddenly sidles up beside Tabris with a catlike smile and a hand at her elbow. Tabris glances over and frowns. She isn’t used to being on the receiving end of this particular Look; usually she’s beside Morrigan when she gives it to Alistair or to Wynne, in on the joke rather than the butt of it. This, then, is disconcerting and is also bound to be exhausting.

“Something you need, Morrigan?” Tabris asks, allowing Morrigan to link arms with her and lean closer. Because despite her present trepidation at Morrigan’s presence, Tabris has grown to love and trust the witch. Enough, even, to let her touch her as suddenly as she is now; it’s something she’s still hesitant to let even Alistair do. “No, really, please just tell me whatever’s on your mind so I can stop worrying.

Morrigan glances backwards at the rest of the group, and Tabris sees her smirk as she finds Alistair in the party before she turns back to her. “You and the other Warden. You…” She pauses, and makes a face as though she’d just walked past someone who hadn’t bathed since the Exalted age. “You long for each other.” And Tabris didn’t think someone could make longing sound like a bad thing but here they are and here she is, suddenly feeling like she’s about to get a lecture about premarital sex. Which is definitely not something Tabris ever thinks about where Alistair is concerned, thank you very much.

“What?” Tabris nearly yelps, only stopped from recoiling by the presence of the rest of the party some yards back and the thought that they might catch on to the topic of conversation. “I – there isn’t any longing, Morrigan. I don’t – I don’t long. I don’t pine! Maker, I’m not fourteen.”

Morrigan’s expression tells Tabris that her response was everything she’d hoped for and more. Sure enough, the bemused arch of her eyebrows turns to something more smug as she says, “If you like, Tabris. But for the record, anyone could tell from here.”

The rest of the party wonders why Tabris is walking so far ahead of them, but if Morrigan knows, she certainly won’t say.
