So I just had to read the sentence “The fact that they remain after life is extinct” in my fucking embalming textbook. Just say after death Jesus Christ we’re (hopefully) not afraid of the concept in this career path

so today i was emailing around to see if any local funeral home has a coffin that i can borrow for the month of october. i really like my job.

he died laying on the floor, face down, reaching for the phone tuesday night. he wasnt found until nearly two days later. the last thing he did was order from a pizza place, but never answered the door. 

he died face first on the floor, reaching for the phone, like he told us he was going to. like he guilted us for years saying he would, saying we never saw him enough, that he’d drop dead before we’d ever see him again. he died like i knew he would, alone in that fucking apartment with no one to help him. i knew something was wrong that night, that morning. i knew when i got 10 phonecalls from my family that it had finally happened. i didnt pick up a single one, i just immediately tried to call him once the 7th or 8th call hit. i knew he wasnt going to pick up. i knew where he was, i knew what happened, because he fucking drilled it in our heads that that was going to happen. 

‘i’m gunna croak before you see me again, please call or see me sometime’ he’d always fucking say that and id brush it off because i did see him when i could, with a full time job and living two hours away, i saw him when i could. it wasnt like a year ago when i worked part time and lived in town and could take him to lunch every day, go through the park or see a movie. god he loved seeing movies. he loved it- no matter what shitawful movie id put him through, hed find something he loved about it. thats what he wanted. ‘sorry dad, i got shit i gotta do. i got a life, dad’ i was such an asshole.

and the old bastard died in the fucking living room, face down, reaching for the phone. like i fucking knew he would.

tbh having a human partner is rough in the same way, it is very very scary all the time, except that we all know i’m croaking first lol

My dad's boss, great friend, and guy that I generally looked up to as someone with boundless architectural experience and a mentor, is passing away as I sit here typing this stupid shit because there's no one around to talk to about it. He's slipping into a coma and hallucinating and they're just trying to help him pass in peace at this point. 

The part killing me the most is that I didn't see him over Christmas break, and I never got to thank him for all the help he's given me in the past few years and the inspiration he's given me to keep going with Architecture.

I feel so shitty and I can't even do anything but sit here and feel fucking terrible about what I haven't done when I had a chance. There's just too much death in my life in such a short amount of time, I'm just feeling sick from all of it...
