Honestly, I haven't looked at a single card commentary since you put them below the cut. It's not *just* the format change, I also have less time for tumblr coincidentally, but I don't like it. What do others think about it, now that it has been used for a little while?

In light of the recent cyberpunk discussion, even though it's not actually "punk", what do you think about The Culture cycle from Iain M. Banks?

I haven’t read them myself, but I’ve heard they’re an exceptional exploration of the way building an ethical society tends to intersect pretty nastily with cultural colonialism. Which makes sense, given that Banks is a Scottish leftist living under the spectre of English colonialism.

Unfortunately, I have a surprising amount of difficulty reading novels anymore, and it’s just as difficult to source audio book versions of pretty much anything that I can actually afford.

There's a blog called psyops-redux that's dedicated to spotting blogs that mostly publish misinformation. I think you'd find it interesting. I mention that now because I've seen you reblog a lot of content from those misinformation blogs over the past few days.

I had heard of that blog before but it ‘wasn’t anything good’ so I didn’t put much stock into it. Now I’m wondering, was the post I read about psyops from one of these blogs they’re calling out...

But going back & reading some of psyops “debunking” responses after this ask and just... OH MY GOD.

These blogs are literally doing what the Russian bots did—first they post enough proper, real news to gain followers and attention; then they deliberately use decontextualized, outdated, or misleading news in order to gain outrage over what is essentially fake news.

This outrage will then turn to complacency or be misplaced because, “Look! The good guys are as bad as the bad guys so why bother voting!?” It’s an incredibly successful campaign against leftist/progressive politics.

So I’m very glad you brought this to my attention shugg & I urge my followers to look through the @psyops-redux blog & form your own opinions too.

It’s all highly suspicious to say the least so people really should be aware—especially considering our upcoming elections.

Re: your conception of Mythic Rares has changed. Then, what's the new conception? (A prime example of an answer you should have elaborated more on the first time, IMHO.)

I think when we started, we were hypothesizing. We assumed that players would accept a narrower band of cards, but as we started making mythic rares, we found that the players were more receptive to variety in mythic rare provided we captured the right feel.

As for not answering the previous question in greater length. I am answering questions as I cook my family's dinner on the grill. My answers are in between me living my life, so I answer as much as I can in that moment knowing I will always have opportunity to talk more later if it's a topic people are interested in.

If a card is counted as discarded when you cycle it, and a trigger reads "when you cycle *or* discard a card", then why doesn't it trigger twice when you cycle a card? Triggering once is the intuitive, colloquial answer, but it really sounds like it should technically trigger twice... (question coming from the recent Mechanics Preview article about Amonkhet)

Because discarding the card when you cycle it is the same action as cycling the card. The trigger looks for an event to match either criteria and since the card already matches the cycling criterion, it doesn’t matter that it also matches the discard criterion since the trigger condition has already been met.

If there were two separate abilities, one that triggered on discard and one that triggered on cycling, then yes, both of those abilities would trigger. But that’s not what we’re dealing with here.

I think I have seen you mention Atypical (the Netflix show), but I can't find the post back. So if it's not too much of a bother, can you remind me what you said about it? Thanks :-)

I’m afraid I haven’t actually seen the show, so I have no idea about its execution or details, nor do I think I’ve had many conversations about it. It always made me a little wary, conceptually, but I don’t have any first hand experience with it, sorry.

Just a piece of feedback: I'd prefer if you'd go into more details in your answers with the first try. You're often very short, which leads to plenty of follow-up question the next day. Wouldn't it be more efficient for you to just deep dive the first time? (Not reaaal deep, but a bit deeper than currently, at least?)

The goal is to answer more people's questions and create a community feel. Short answers that prompt more questions is very much done on purpose.
