          charles had admittedly been observing the man for some time now , out of sheer curiosity. when the man finally began rifling through charles’ ancient stacks of research notes one day , he had no choice but to appear before him , at last. he almost wasn’t conscious of the action , though his sudden visibility could have been quite startling. “ THAT THERE is not your research ! refrain from tampering with things that don’t belong to you , if you would be so kind ! ”

            a  ghost,  she  thinks,  he  must  think  her  a  ghost  still.  girlhood  painted  across  the  bridge  of  her  nose  like  freckles  as  she  smooths  her  hands  down  her  dress,  unafraid  of  the  spiders  and  rats  likely  hidden  in  dark  depths  of  the  stairs.     ❝  need  we  discuss  our  terms  again?  ❞

“I had to tie you up. You didn’t leave me any other choice.”

     Things were not going according to plan. Maybe he should’ve listened when Dan had mentioned, numerous times, that he had a roommate. Or maybe he just shouldn’t have been breaking into Dan’s home when he knew he was out. Regardless, it wasn’t the first time he’d been tied up, and it certainly wasn’t going to be the last. 

      He didn’t struggle against his restraints, honestly a little curious to see what Herbert planned on doing next.

     “Of course. You know, that is the sort of excuse someone uses when they really just enjoy tying people up. You can be honest with me. We are all friends here.”

bones crack hollowly as she rolls her neck. atop the counter she sits on, jean-clad legs swing. bandaged fingers rub at squinted eyes before melting into her hair, tugs at the roots. motion always persists. kristen finds it helps, if not exasperates those left to observe her. one of whom she trains her gaze to. “you wouldn’t happen to have some spare adderall, would you?” worth a shot. head cants to the side, she tries again. “a diet coke?”
